2D Barcode Reader for PCR Sample Management
Aug 01 2023
Ziath, in collaboration with 4titude from Azenta Life Sciences, announces the optimised Mirage 2D barcode reader, specifically designed for reading Individual Access 2D coded PCR plates. These plates are part of the renowned Framestar range from 4titude, which combines the rigidity of a polycarbonate frame with the excellent thermal transfer properties of polypropylene in each thermal cycler well.
The Individual Access PCR plate offers exceptional versatility, with individual wells that can be easily removed and independently sealed using an Azenta semi-automated sheet or individual access heat sealer. This ground-breaking design empowers customers to use anywhere from 1 to 96 wells in each plate during a PCR run, offering complete workflow flexibility and minimising consumable wastage. Each well in the Individual Access PCR plate features an individual, randomly generated Data Matrix 2D barcode on the base, providing a unique and unalterable ID.
Reading these codes is effortlessly achieved by placing the Individual Access PCR plate on a Ziath Mirage 2D rack reader and opening the DP5 software. By selecting the Framestar template from the menu, reading each plate becomes a one-touch operation. In less than 1 second, the Mirage can read all 96 plate wells, decode the information, and display the data on-screen. Results can be conveniently exported in various common formats, including .csv, xls, pdf, png, JSON, and Python, accommodating different data management preferences.
For labs requiring the reading of a single Individual Access plate well, the budget-friendly Ziath Uno single tube reader is the ideal solution. The easy-to-use Uno reads the 2D barcode on the Individual Access PCR plate well and transfers the result into any open program on the desktop using Microsoft Keyboard Wedge software.
