Shimadzu introduces the new series of combustion type analysers. The TOC-L Series systems target wastewater, brine water, seawater, drinking water and pharmaceutical water applications. Consisting of four models including PC-controlled and stand-alone versions, the TOC-L Series utilises the 680°C combustion catalytic oxidation method to efficiently analyse all organic compounds. Shimadzu developed this method, which is now used worldwide.
With its wide measuring range of 4 μg/L to 30,000 mg/L, Shimadzu’s TOC-L Series supports each type of application, from pure water to highly contaminated water. In addition, the TOC-L Series supports measurement of liquid, solid and gaseous samples. The series features automatic sample acidification and sparging as well as an automatic dilution function that reduces sample salinity, acidity and alkalinity, significantly extending the period of use of catalysts and combustion tubes. High-precision mass flow controllers ensure uninterrupted carrier gas for high-precision analysis, and a zero maintenance Peltier cooler is utilised for maximum water vapor removal to ensure accurate analysis. Additional hardware features include a new colour LCD monitor for the stand-alone system and USB communications for computer, printer and data storage. For simultaneous TOC and Total Nitrogen analysis the TNM-L system can be added without increasing the size of the footprint. Highly sensitive chemiluminescence detection offers a measuring range between 5 μg/L and 10,000mg/L. Furthermore, the TOC-L series features variable syringe sizes used when the sample volume is limited. The optional salt kits permit 12 times more salt to be analysed before maintenance is required. The ASI-L autosampler can utilise three different vial sizes for various applications, while the smaller OCT-L autosampler can use any vial size for up to 8 or 16 samples.
TOC-Control L Software, the state-of-the-art software for PC control combines new features with easy-to-use operation. These eco-friendly systems use 43% less energy than previous models and the width of the TOC-L has been reduced by 20%, saving valuable lab space.
