OHAUS introduces a balance built for sophisticated, professional weighing - Explorer® Semi-Micro

OHAUS, a leading worldwide manufacturer of scales and balances, announced the launch of Explorer® Semi-Micro.

Over the past several years, the introduction of multiple Explorer balance models have helped set a new definition of what modern weighing and measurement means in today’s science, research and development landscape. We are happy to announce the newest addition to the Explorer Series, the Explorer Semi-Micro, which now brings the Explorer Series’ trademark ingenuity and intuition to applications requiring extreme precision, down to 0.01mg.

Explorer Semi-Micro has been designed for professional use in which accuracy of results is of the utmost importance. The instrument uses a High Speed Single Module weighing cell to ensure accurate measurements and ultra-fast stabilization time. Among Explorer’s many features that bolster accuracy are AutoCal™ automatic internal calibration system equipped with two internal calibration weights. It automatically calibrates the balance every time it senses a temperature change of 1.5°C or every 3 hours, which helps ensure the accuracy of the balance when the operator has not performed a manual calibration or when the proper calibration masses are unavailable. Thanks to this AutoCal™ system the Explorer Semi-Micro also provides a linearity of ±0.1mg.
Another crucial element is a built-in ionizer on selected models that neutralizes static charges in the weighing chamber. Upon user's request, it generates bipolar ions from positive and negative discharge electrodes and directs the ionized air onto the charged body to eliminate static electricity. This is extremely important as the charges can build up in the weighing chamber and alter weighing results by as much as several milligrams.
 
The newest member of the Explorer Series also provides many of the ingeniously practical features found on other Explorer models, including four touchless sensors, intuitive SmarText™ 2.0 software, two automatic draftshield doors on selected models, user manager function and multiple libraries.
