Food Testing Instrumentation to be Demonstrated at IUFoST 2016

Labcell attended IUFoST 2016, the 18th World Congress of Food Science and Technology, which took place at RDS, Dublin from 21-25 August. The company exhibited and demonstrated food testing instruments from the Decagon Devices benchtop and handheld ranges for use by food scientists and technologists and production operatives working in the fields of research, quality assurance, new product development and packaging development. On display were water activity analysers, moisture content meters and an instrument for generating moisture sorption isotherms.

Decagon Devices is one of the world's leading manufacturers of instruments for measuring water activity (also known as equivalent relative humidity or ERH), moisture content and moisture sorption isotherms, with its instruments in use at over 80% of the world's top-100 food companies. Visitors to the Labcell booth saw the user-friendly AquaLab Series 4TE, which is the latest version of the company's renowned benchtop instrument for making accurate measurements of water activity in less than five minutes. This model benefits from a facility for performing analyses at user-defined temperatures, as well as secure data storage in compliance with the FDA's 21 CFR Part 11 rule.

Also on show was the Aqualab Series 4TEV that features an additional sensor for samples containing propylene glycol, ethanol and other volatiles, the AquaLab DUO that is believed to be unique in its ability to measure water activity and water content simultaneously, the recently launched entry-level AquaLab Pre that makes rapid measurements while maintaining the sample at a constant temperature, and the pocket-sized Pawkit water activity analyser.
