At the end of the 1950’s the plastics technological development led naturally to the birth of the Labware Division, a section of Kartell that supplies products specifically for the laboratory market. The division uses raw
materials, such as Polypropylene, Polystyrene and Polyethylene, to their best possible advantage, creating many products that are lightweight, highly resistant, inexpensive and the natural alternatives to glass.
The choice of the plastic to be used depends on the individual application. For this reason it is necessary to consider important factors such as chemical concentration, contact time, ageing effects, thermal stress, aggressiveness of detergents, UV radiation exposure, sterilisation and other environmental effects. It is this commitment to quality that led to Kartell being granted ISO 9001 certification in 1996, and will continue to be its driving force into the future.
Kartell have achieved UNI EN ISO 9001: 2000 certification by using highly efficient production systems with the latest high-tech equipment and machinery. Up-dating edition UNI 2008 is foreseen within June 2010. Continuous monitoring during the production cycles by qualified technicians ensures the highest quality products. This investment in staff and machinery does not preclude the necessity of producing goods at a competitive price. By using these techniques in the development of new variants of plastic materials and production, Kartell’s objective is always to manufacture products that meet the most demanding requirements of customers, whilst offering exceptional value for money. Kartell are always looking for new products, new materials and new production techniques to ensure that the latest demands of customers and their equipment are met. In this way Kartell will always be at the forefront of marketing and product development.
