S@femate Cytotm a New Series of Cytotoxic Drug Handling Cabinets
Nov 12 2008
Cytotoxic drugs are therapeutic agents intended for, but not limited to, the treatment of cancer. These drugs are known to be highly toxic to cells, but are increasingly being used in a variety of healthcare settings and laboratories.
Exposure may come through skin contact or inhalation of aerosols and drug particles resulting from drug preparation, drug administration, handling patient waste transport and waste disposal, or spills.
In order to prevent personnel involved in these activities from exposure, a cytotoxic drug handling cabinet should be provided as protective equipment, in conjunction with other control measures.
S@femate CytoTM series of cytotoxic drug handling cabinets provides to all level of users and maintenance staff the highest level of safety against cytotoxic drugs. In the S@femate CytoTM series, the internal design, the air flow aerodynamics and monitoring, the built-in safety devices and the accurate manufacturing, guarantee the highest
performance at the most stringent safety levels, as specified by all available International cytotoxic drug handling cabinets standards.
Other than the two classic H14 filters needed for the filtration of exhausted air and downflow recirculating unidirectional airflow, a tertiary filtration stage, with an exclusive patented bag-in bag-out filter changing protocol is located underneath the work surface in order to provide, by filtering 100% of the recirculated airflow, the
required safety for the maintenance personnel when removing this stage of filtration for substitution.
