Infrared Heaters Bust the Infrared Myth

International heating systems specialist and manufacturer Ceramicx is committing new resources to the education and promotion of infrared heating technology throughout its user markets and in
industry generally.

Frank Wilson, Ceramicx Founder and Managing Director, said: “In the course of nearly all our customer work, at some point in the process, we have to shoulder the task of explaining some infrared
fundamentals. We mainly do this in order to illustrate the advantages of this kind of heat work. Very often, the technical discussion is triggered because of the fundamental difference in the engineer’s
mind between the concept of temperature and that of radiation.”

Ceramicx has accordingly dedicated part of its company website to infrared education – in the first instance to dispelling common myths about it. The company envisages building up both infrared case studies and technical data on the subject in order to try and raise the understanding of the technology generally.

Ceramicx’s infrared heaters are primarily used in industry: A good percentage of Ceramicx output is channelled into heating systems for the plastics thermoforming industries worldwide, where Ceramicx
customers make a wide variety of mouldings – from food containers to car door panels.

“Every one of our customers could use a little more education about infrared – and how to get the most out of the process,” said Wilson. “At Ceramicx we are, of course, happy to include this work as part of our service. We do feel that industry in general – including OEM and High Street names of the highest quality – is sorely lacking in its infrared manufacturing knowledge. It’s now time, therefore, to issue a profitable infrared ‘wake up call.”
