Advanced water quality testing solutions
Mar 28 2025
Bluephage SL, a leader in microbiological water testing, has introduced two innovative product lines to enhance laboratory efficiency and water quality testing standards. These additions reinforce Bluephage’s commitment to delivering advanced, customer-centric solutions for water analysis worldwide.
The company has updated its Positive Control Kits, now available in two specialised formats: BP1626a and BP1626b. These kits, designed for coliphage enumeration, now contain 25 units per box - five more than the previous version - offering better value and flexibility. Laboratories can now purchase these controls separately, optimising inventory management.
The BP1626a kit is tailored for use with the Easy Kit BP1601 (1 ml samples), while BP1626b is optimised for the Easy Kit BP1604 (100 ml samples). Positive controls play a crucial role in ensuring accuracy and reliability in coliphage testing by introducing a known quantity of the φX174 bacteriophage, a global reference for detecting somatic coliphages. These kits comply with ISO 10705-2, the international standard for coliphage enumeration.
Bluephage is also launching GR8FHDT and GR8FHD, filterable formats of the GR8 somatic coliphage, designed to validate bacteriophage concentration in water testing. These products are compatible with Bluephage’s Rapid Kits (BPF-SE, BPF-SPA) and Easy Kits (BP1601, BP1604) and comply with ISO 10705-3, the key standard for bacteriophage concentration.
Bacteriophages often occur in low concentrations in water samples, making concentration methods essential for accurate detection. GR8, isolated from surface water, is an effective surrogate for environmental testing. Its filterable format simplifies laboratory workflows while ensuring adherence to global water safety standards.
With two-year shelf lives and storage at -20°C (GR8FHDT) or -70°C (GR8FHD), these new formats provide long-term, reliable solutions for laboratories.
These new product launches highlight Bluephage’s dedication to innovation, regulatory compliance, and laboratory efficiency in water quality testing.
