New Functions for ADP450 Peltier Temperature Controlled Polarimeter

Xylem’s Bellingham + Stanley brand has added key new user benefits to it recently launched ADP450 Peltier temperature controlled polarimeter.

New XPC-LV adaptors now allow users to measure the optical rotation of chiral compounds in low volume polarimeter tubes with path lengths as as short as 10mm so that precious or highly active samples may easily be handled using luer flow-through, or syringe input.

The ADP450 offers three decimal place precision to an accuracy of ±0.01 °Angular

with ‘single-shot’ or continual measurement of optical rotation or other related parameter such as specific rotation, concentration or inversion being easily achieved using the instrument’s simple Methods system. The new Multi-read Method allows operators to monitor the change in optical rotation over a specified period of time; a technique used to observe and record reaction in complex chemical structures as part of, say, the development of efficient catalysers for industrial processes or to help assign the expiration dates of food and pharmaceutical product.

Another new feature allows the instrument to be controlled directly via LIMS so that readings are instigated, recorded and returned as part of a centrally controlled experiment or process.

Calibration and configuration of the ADP450 is password protected, accessible by keypad entry or for convenience, using a fully configurable RFID tag. This, together with the audit trail, facilitates operation in environments conforming to FDA regulation 21 CFR Part 11 or GLP.

For special applications where measurement is required at an alternative wavelength within the UV/Vis spectrum, the ADP600 Series of high precision polarimeters is available. Like the ADP450, the ADP600 Series polarimeters also comply with the requirements of Pharmacopeia (BP/EP/USP/JP - 781).

Results are clearly visible on the instruments new full colour 4” high definition display and over 8000 measurements as well as a record of the instrument’s configuration may be stored, viewed and output to LIMS or Secure PDF.
