MobileFuge Delivers Flexible, Remote Working for Optima XPN and Avanti JXN Centrifugation Users

Monitoring multiple instruments becomes easy with MobileFuge, the remote control and monitoring application from Beckman Coulter Life Sciences. Scientists can control their centrifuges and workflow from anywhere they have an internet connection and either an Apple iOS or Android device. 

Designed for their Optima XPN and Avanti JXN series, MobileFuge extends certain vital functions of the lab, making it possible for scientists to monitor up to 16 instruments. For example, scientists can not only to prep runs at any time but initiate them from wherever they are located.

MobileFuge’s ability to communicate with a research lab’s central network makes it especially suitable for shared lab environments.  Once Optima XPN and Avanti JXN Series instruments are configured so that they are always connected to the lab’s IT network, sscientists can then access instrument data, so they can carry out remote monitoring and control and error handling via the central network. 

It[JRW1]  also provides additional workflow support for production or cGMP environments, so that scientists could receive an immediate electronic notification if there is an issue with the instrument during a run (for example, power outage).  The app on the phone exactly mimics the instrument interface and capabilities, including its security features.

“While Beckman Coulter Life Sciences are currently the only company with this level of connectivity,” he added.   “We see this becoming a standard for lab equipment.  When you invest in instrumentation that you are committing to use for long periods of time, it is to your advantage to have this now.  If you purchase something without this level of network connectivity, you will be without its capability for possibly 10 or more years.  The impact on workflow, lab budgets and the timely delivery of results will increase over time.”
