New twin-vessel freeze dryer system for research and formulation

Telstar LyoBeta Mini is a compact (W94cm x H76cm x D63cm) pilot-scale freeze dryer specifically intended for small scale formulation, research, and development work. It has been designed in twin-vessel configuration with a condenser capacity 6 Kg, which is separate from the product chamber. It belongs to the LyoBeta range of freeze dryers that encompasses advanced process control systems, management software, and interface features.

Taking up minimal bench space as well, the compact lab freeze dryer which offers the flexibility, high performance, and small foot-print required in a laboratory unit, has been designed for applications in experimentation and formulation to develop recipes in pharmaceutical freeze-drying processes.

In addition, Lyobeta Mini is equipped with an automatic stoppering system that enables an automatic sequence to be programmed. This includes an electromagnetic aeration valve and piezo-pressure sensor for use in combination with the pneumatic stoppering device. This compact laboratory freeze-dryer offers 0.18m2 of useful shelf surface area with temperature control from -55 to +70°C. A cascade refrigeration system using CFC-free refrigerants cools the shelves and will reduce the temperature of the condenser up to -85°C.

Through the integration of a chamber-condenser butterfly-type separation valve, a pressure rise test can be performed directly from the control system of the LyoBeta Mini, enabling determination of the end of the freeze-drying process. A PLC-based control system enables complete control of the process parameters, recipe programming, pressure, and temperature monitoring.

A broad range of options makes the Lyobeta Mini enable flexible and customised configuration fitted to customer requirements to reach higher performance and process optimisation. Lyobeta Mini is considered a valuable tool in understanding the freeze-drying process and the associated parameters required for the process of production.
