Enhanced Wi-Fi Temperature Monitoring Solution Aids Safety
Apr 29 2010
Airetrak has enhanced its highly acclaimed ResourceView information solution with new Wi-Fi Temperature Monitoring functionality. Enabling hospitals and clinics to meet increasingly strict guidelines on the temperature monitoring of blood and drug products as well as aid patient safety, the new ResourceView Wi-Fi Temperature Monitoring functionality is able to reliably record the temperature of all fridges and freezers as well as blood
or drugs boxes in transit.
Designed with the input from 20 NHS hospitals, the system continuously monitors the temperature of fridges, freezers and mobile storage in real time, using extremely accurate calibrated sensors that communicate over the hospital’s Wi-Fi network. Information is easily accessed via an intuitive web-based user interface, which is capable of monitoring one or multiple temperature readings.
Able to monitor temperatures of -200°C to +200°C, the Airetrak solution provides automated alerts and escalations via email or SMS should a fridge’s temperature rise or fall beyond a predetermined threshold. As well as managing escalations in accordance with EU and MHRA guidelines, the Wi-Fi Temperature Monitoring has an extensive reporting package providing a complete audit trail for up to 15 years, detailing every event including response time, corrective action taken and escalations to other members of staff.
The ResourceView Wi-Fi Temperature Monitoring is suitable for use with a wide range of easily deployable temperature sensors and probes and can be calibrated to 0.5°C against UKAS standards. Multiple probes can be attached to each sensor unit and probes are available for both air or ballast temperature readings.
Helping the NHS avoid litigation arising from poorly stored blood and drugs (currently standing at £5 billion), the ResourceView Wi-Fi Temperature Monitoring system also helps prevent wastage and staff time from a non-automated solution. The Airetrak Temperature Monitoring system is built on the latest Microsoft technology toenable a low cost, highly functional solution providing real value to the NHS Trust and ensuring a fast return on investment.
