Expanded HALO-5 Fused-Core range of columns

Advanced Materials Technologies have announced the launch of two new HALO-5 phases, HALO-5 Penta-HILIC and HALO-5 HILIC (unbonded-silica), bringing the total number of HALO-5 phases available to seven.

HALO-5 5micron HPLC columns are based on the same proven Fused-Core particle technology as the original 2.7micron columns but have been developed by fusing a 0.6micron porous silica layer on to the surface of a solid core particle to create a superficially porous “5micron” particle.

HALO-5 columns have been specifically developed to provide improved HPLC performance when used with traditional HPLC equipment, as the lower back pressure of these columns is ideally suited to these instruments. It has been demonstrated that for a given operating pressure, HALO-5 columns deliver significantly higher efficiency than a column packed with 5micron totally porous particles.

Key features of HALO-5 columns include:

  • High efficiencies at fast flow rates
  • Low back pressure well suited to traditional HPLC instruments
  • Scalable from UHPLC separations developed on 2.7micron HALO columns

HALO columns are also available in nine 2.7micron phases for improved UHPLC separations. The full range of HALO columns includes:

  • C18 - 5 and 2.7micron particles
  • C8 - 5 and 2.7micron particles
  • HILIC (unbonded silica) - 5 and 2.7micron particles
  • RP-Amide - 2.7micron particles
  • Phenyl-Hexyl - 5 and 2.7micron particles
  • PFP - 5 and 2.7micron particles
  • ES-CN - 5 and 2.7micron particles
  • Peptide ES-C18 - 2.7micron particles
  • Penta-HILIC - 5 and 2.7micron particles
