New benchtop system for high-sensitivity gel and western blot imaging

Bio-Rad Laboratories has introduced the ChemiDoc™ Go Imaging System, the latest in their ChemiDoc Imaging Systems lineup. The system is designed for rapid, reliable, and highly sensitive imaging of gels and western blots, all in a compact benchtop format.

The ChemiDoc Go Imaging System features advanced CMOS digital imaging technology, capturing gel and western blot images with the same high sensitivity as larger, more expensive instruments. This compact, user-friendly imager supports chemiluminescence and fluorescence detection, including the use of StarBright™ Dyes. Additionally, its three versatile sample trays accommodate a wide range of applications, from nucleic acid to protein quantitation through various detection methods. The system's all-LED illumination enhances instrument durability and reduces maintenance needs, ensuring consistent and reliable performance over time.

Traditionally, western blot experiments require additional steps for normalisation using housekeeping proteins, which involves time-consuming and costly protocols. The ChemiDoc Go Imaging System offers an alternative with Stain-Free Imaging technology, simplifying the workflow and providing quality control at every stage. The system is also compatible with Bio-Rad’s BR.io cloud-based platform, offering image storage and enhanced data accessibility.

"We are thrilled to launch the ChemiDoc Go Imaging System, the first benchtop imager to utilise advanced CMOS digital imaging," said Kenneth Oh, Global Marketing Manager at Bio-Rad Laboratories. "This innovative system allows researchers to capture high-sensitivity western blot and gel images directly from their benchtop, offering unmatched versatility. The ChemiDoc Go combines leading-edge sensitivity, all-LED illumination, and cloud connectivity, all within a compact design."
