Product Variety from Leading Brands
Aug 20 2010
Bibby Scientific took the opportunity of showing three new products at Fisher Science World 2010, one from each of the Bibby equipment brands, Jenway, Stuart and Techne.
Jenway have recently launched a new range of entry level spectrophotometers. These spectrophotometers use icon-driven software and have an improved navigation system, making these instruments extremely simple and intuitive to use. The new range includes four spectrophotometers; visible models 7300 and 7310 and UV/visible models 7305 and 7315. All four models have a spectral bandwidth of 5nm and an absorbance range of –0.3 to 2.5A. The advanced models, 7310 and 7315, have the ability to save methods and results to USB memory stick.
Stuart have recently launched a shaking incubator which has been specially designed for use with microtitre plates to meet the needs of life science labs. Offering the ideal shaking action for mixing very small volumes
in well plates or micro tubes, the SI505 dramatically reduces sample evaporation and features state-of-the-art microprocessor detection, setting and control of temperature. As with the entire Stuart range the SI505 comes
with BioCote antimicrobial protection.
Bibby’s life science brand, Techne, showed the feature-packed TC-PLUS thermal cyclers. These new thermal cyclers have one of the fastest aluminium blocks on the market, delivering greater uniformity than a silver
block. Navigation is easy and intuitive using the 5.7 inch VGA colour touchscreen. The TC-PLUS also features a unique CD-type sample drawer (patent pending). The force used to push the drawer closed also lowers the
heated lid into position, applying the correct pressure onto the samples to prevent evaporation. This mechanism is entirely mechanical and doesn’t rely on motors.
