TOC-MS is a novel technique for analysing complex samples which can reduce, or remove, the need for chromatography. Available as an upgrade kit for existing Q-ToF-MS systems, TOC-MS allows the entirety of a sample to be analysed simultaneously without any prior knowledge of the analytes. The output is a 3-dimensional ‘data-cube’ which provides a data-rich holistic view of your sample, complete with precursor-fragment association.

How it works:
Verdel’s unique upgrade kit allows the quadrupole in a Q-TOF spectrometer to operate as a linear ion trap. Trapped ion radii are manipulated with an encoding technique that uniquely pairs fragments with their respective precursors. This combined with high-resolution mass measurement (in the TOF) allows identification of all components in the sample simultaneously. Our bespoke software - ‘TOCulus’ - makes the data analysis simple, identifying all the precursor ions present, correlating their fragments and providing accurate mass data for both in a single report. TOC-MS provides a breakthrough technique for data independent acquisition (DIA), reduces the need for chromatographic separation and can provide unique insight into your samples that simply can’t be achieved with other techniques.
