New Sensor Measures Pressure of Hot Media Directly

The new Type RH pressure sensor from Kistler Instruments Ltd can measure the pressure of hot media up to 300 oC directly and provides the option of a 10 mV/oC temperature output from the same sensor. The unique construction, using a specially designed silicon, measuring cell, eliminates the need for a pressure transmission fluid between the media and the sensor diaphragm. The extremely robust diaphragm and pressure ranges up to 3,000 bar make the Type RH ideal for use under difficult conditions in hydraulic and process monitoring applications.

The high sensitivity, excellent stability, accuracy and high natural frequency allow the precise measurement of both static and dynamic pressures. The absolute pressure sensor types are available for pressure ranges from 100 bar up to 3,000 bar. All types can also be supplied with a set of coefficients for digital sensor correction when used in applications with the most stringent requirements.

The sensor output signal can be converted to the common industrial 0 10V or 4 20 mA signal specification by use of the Type 4618A signal amplifier. The integral calibration function makes sensor exchange and adjustment very easy and two individually adjustable limits can be used for additional process monitoring. Depending on temperature range and cable, the amplifier can be located up to 50 metres from the sensor.
The new Kistler Type RH pressure sensor has been developed to provide a robust method of precision monitoring both pressure and temperature in the most difficult operating conditions.
