Planar Chromatography is Childs’s Play
Jul 18 2012
HPTLC’s multifunctional uses are featured in CBS 108, the latest issue of Swiss Chromatography producer Camag’s latest Bibliography Service.
Brought to you by Camag’s UK distributor Omicron Research Ltd, the magazine covers diverse topics ranging from the analysis of polyaromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in toys to pesticides in green tea, and other abstracts from recent TLC/HPTLC publications.
Of particular interest is an article on a new, highly effective, rapid and cost saving method used for the fingerprint of biopolymers. This analysis of plants polymers’ replaces the more challenging GC method, with the accuracy of results successfully verified by comparing HPTLC with GC. HPTLC was found to be more effective in terms of sample throughput, robustness, cost and analysis time, proving to be about 8 times faster than GC. The plant polysaccharides tested based on different monomeric units, all showed characteristic fingerprints and could be differentiated by the new HPTLC method.
