New GC Columns for Energy and Chemical Industries Introduced
Oct 16 2013
Agilent Technologies Inc have launched new Agilent J&W gas chromatography columns designed for energy and chemical exploration, processing and distribution applications. The columns include extensions to the PLOT PT product line with aluminium oxide and molecular sieve stationary phases, as well as DB-sulphur SCD (sulphur chemiluminesence detection) columns that increase system reliability and detection stability.
“We continually talk to customers to understand their needs and provide the solutions they’re looking for. Ruggedness and productivity, for example, are key drivers in the energy and chemistry industries,” said Michael Feeney, Vice President and General Manager of Agilent’s Supplies Division, Chemical Analysis Group. “Our new columns evolved from conversations with customers who want to run more samples with less routine maintenance of their GC systems.”
Agilent PLOT columns are the optimal choice for analysis of permanent gases and light hydrocarbons.
The new Agilent J&W PLOT PT GC columns have dual-ended, integrated particle-trapping technology that prevents PLOT stationary-phase particles from moving downstream. The reduction in particle shedding results in less downtime for system maintenance and greater efficiency.
Agilent’s new PLOT PT GC columns are available in 36 configurations, including the new porous polymer (Q and U), aluminium oxide and molecular sieve stationary phases.
Agilent J&W DB-sulphur SCD columns are optimised for the analysis of sulphur compounds using sulphur chemiluminesence detection.
In collaboration with Dow Chemical and other leading companies, Agilent has developed new DB-sulphur SCD columns. Optimised for GC/SCD analyses, these new columns enable petroleum and chemical refiners to better monitor sulphur to meet stringent combustion-emission regulations. Low column bleed extends SCD signal stability to reduce the frequency and expense of detector maintenance, resulting in improved instrument uptime. Excellent peak shape for reactive sulphur compounds enables reliable low-level detection.
