We're celebrating 40 years of transforming science education.
The Smithsonian Science Education Center connects classrooms around the world with the science, history, research, and culture of the Smithsonian. Through hands-on STEM curriculum, resources, and professional development programs, we inspire curiosity, empower K-12 educators, and ensure every learner has access to high-quality science education.

We are transforming K-12 Education Through Science in collaboration with communities across the globe.

The idea of transformation has always been at the core of our work. Since our founding in 1985, we have: embedded innovative technologies into our K-12 STEM education resources for schools, homes, and communities; adapted approaches that ensure all students and teachers are included in STEM opportunities; and, centered sustainability within our STEM curriculum and professional development programs for teachers to help prepare the next generation of innovators for a shared transformative future.
