Dotard or Rocket Man – who said what in the Trump v Kim Jong-un war of words?

This article is more than 6 years old

The leaders of the US and North Korea have been ratcheting up their insults. Can you sort the Trumpisms from the Kim barbs?

With Kim Jong-un creatively bringing the word ‘dotard’ back into fashion in his response to Donald Trump’s speech this week at the UN, here is a look at the insults the two have been exchanging throughout this year. Can you spot which phrases come from the mouth of an outspoken, unpredictable and dangerous leader, and which come from North Korea’s Kim Jong-un?

  1. 1.“He is surely a rogue and a gangster fond of playing with fire”
  2. 2.“They will be met with fire and fury like the world has never seen”
  3. 3.“Rocket Man is on a suicide mission for himself and for his regime”
  4. 4.“[The] bastards would be not very happy with this gift”
  5. 5.“People are saying: 'Is he sane?' I have no idea”
  6. 6.“A frightened dog barks louder”
  7. 7.“Our nuclear arsenal…is now far stronger and more powerful than ever before… There will never be a time that we are not the most powerful nation in the world”
  8. 8.“Does this guy have anything better to do with his life?”
  9. 9.“I’m telling you under the right circumstances I would meet with him”
  10. 10.“[He is] mentally deranged”
