Automated sample preparation: fast and easy

The Metrohm Inline Sample Preparation (MISP) techniques make sample preparation as easy as it gets. Increase your sample throughput, while also improving accuracy and reproducibility of your analyses and results!

In addition, automated Metrohm IC allows you to use any kind of intelligent injection: full-loop, internal-loop, Metrohm intelligent Partial-Loop Injection Technique (MiPT), and Metrohm intelligent Pick-up Injection Technique (MiPuT). These can be combined with inline sample preparation as preconcentration or matrix elimination to make the analyses even more efficient.

Overview of Metrohm Inline Sample Preparation (MISP) techniques
MISP technique What does it do? What are the benefits?
Metrohm Inline Ultrafiltration It combines sample introduction with immediate filtration and removes any particles from the sample. The fully automated sample filtration (0.2 µm) saves time and costs, especially for high-throughput routine analysis. In combination with Inline Dilution, efficiency can be further increased.
Metrohm Inline Dialysis It removes particles, oil drops, and colloids from the sample to be analysed. The fully automated sample preparation for e.g., dairy products or body fluids, keep manual steps and maintenance costs at a minimum.

Metrohm Inline Dilution

It automatically dilutes the sample depending on a predefined concentration limit or logical dilution by automatically calculated optimum dilution factors. Accurate and reliable results, irrespective of the initial concentration of the sample. Possibility for automatic calibration and multi-stage dilution.
Metrohm Inline Extraction It transfers water-soluble components from a non-polar organic phase into an aqueous phase for subsequent injection (after Inline Dialysis). Facilitates ion chromatographic analysis of water-soluble components of non-polar, organic samples. Low maintenance and costs.
Metrohm Inline Matrix Elimination It separates ionic analytes from the uncharged or oppositely charged matrix. No sample preparation cartridges (SPE) are required, minimising waste. Elimination of smallest matrix molecules (e.g., isopropanol) not removable with dialyses.
Metrohm Inline Neutralisation and Metrohm Inline Cation Removal It adjusts the pH (pH 5-7) of strongly acidic or alkaline samples or removes transition metals (for cation removal) using the Sample Preparation Module (SPM), and enables thus direct sample injection (without any risks for column damages).

No time-consuming and expensive sample preparation with SPE cartridges. Reduced risk of precipitation, deposits, and damages of suppressor and columns. Combination with preconcentration, ME, and inline calibration possible enabling even ultratrace analysis.

Metrohm AeRosol Sampler (MARS) It samples aerosol particles from an air stream and brings them into the aqueous phase for straightforward IC analysis.

Direct determination of the ionic profile of aerosols with a high time resolution. The direct monitoring avoids any problems related to sample storage and transport.

Monitor for AeRosols and Gases (2060 MARGA) It samples the water-soluble ionic load of aerosols and gases/the gas phase of ambient air for subsequent IC analysis. 24/7, real-time monitoring of anions (SOx, NOx) and cations (NH4+) in parallel.
Combustion Ion Chromatography (CIC) It pyrolyses the sample in an oven unit. Resulting gaseous compounds are transferred into an absorption solution for subsequent direct IC analysis.

High throughput, fully automated inline sample preparation for solids, gases, and liquids. Simultaneous determination of sulfur and halogens with high precision and accuracy.

815 Robotic Soliprep for LC It homogenises, extracts, dilutes, and filters any solid or liquid samples for direct analysis with. No manual sample preparation steps needed, saving time and costs while keeping the high reliability and accuracy of the results. Compatible with IC and HPLC instruments.
Overview of intelligent injection techniques
Intelligent injection technique What does it do? What are the benefits?
Metrohm intelligent Partial Loop Injection Technique (MiPT) It adjusts the injection volume of an undiluted sample between 2 and 200 µL to an optimal volume by partial loop filling. High, precise dosing is enabled with the Dosino. Outstanding linearity appropriate for precise automatic inline calibration and intelligent optimal sample analysis, always within the calibration range. Sample concentrations in the range 1:10,000 can be analysed reliably with automatic calibration. Practically free from manual preparation steps and maintenance.
Metrohm intelligent Pick-up Technique (MiPut) It delivers and injects minimal, flexible sample volumes in a range of 4-60 µL. Maintenance free, time and cost-saving technique for smallest sample volumes and inline calibration.
Metrohm intelligent Preconcentration Technique (MiPCT) It retains the analyte on a preconcentration column using defined or automatically optimised preconcentration volumes. Increased measuring sensitivity (analysis in the ng/L range). High flexibility towards variable preconcentrations volumes and automatic calibration thanks to highly accurate dosing with the 800 Dosino.
Metrohm intelligent Preconcentration Technique with Matrix Elimination (MiPCT-ME) High performance sample preparation combining MiPCT with Inline Matrix Elimination (ME). Accurate and sensitive detection of low analyte concentrations in high ionic matrices. MiPCT-ME enables preconcentration volumes from 4 µL to 20 mL.
