Purpose

We aim to provide a friendly and inclusive forum for the discussion and dissemination of all aspects of sensing, analysis and monitoring of gases, volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and particles. We bring together people with different backgrounds and personal experiences in order to stimulate research, development, applications and collaboration.

We welcome members from a diverse range of gas/VOC/particle sensing fields including users and manufacturers; university researchers from graduates to professors; government and private organisations; and consultants.

History

GASG was founded in December 1993 when the Department of Trade and Industry assisted the formation of several interest groups through its Advanced Sensor Technology Transfer Programme scheme. A non-profit organisation, we are now completely self-funded by membership and meeting fees. Since our inception we have organised around three meetings per annum.

What We Do

We typically run three themed technical meetings (hybrid and online) each year, at both industry-related and hospitality venues across the UK. We also periodically host Early Career Researchers meetings specifically to provide newcomers to the field with direct access to advice from their peers and other experienced colleagues. We publish regular Newsletters and Proceedings of our meetings.
